NOODLE SIT WITH ARMS OUT - DYNAMIC

Challenge core stability and balance through floating position with dynamic variations for increased difficulty.

Focus Core & Trunk
Environment Hydrotherapy pool
Pool Depth Partially Suspended
Supervision Not required
Equipment Yes

How to Perform

  1. Place single pool noodle under buttocks and sit in chest-deep water.
  2. Allow feet to lift completely off pool bottom into full floating position.
  3. Extend arms out to sides just under water surface with palms facing down.
  4. Hold position as still as possible for 15-20 seconds while maintaining stability.
  5. Add small perturbations by gently moving arms or shifting weight to challenge balance.

Key Execution Cues

Remember: Engage core to maintain position. Keep body centered on noodle. Respond to instability with core activation. Breathe rhythmically. Challenge yourself to stay still.

Safety & Precautions

Important: Avoid if acute core injury or severe balance disorders. Requires comfort in water.

Additional Safety Notes: Ensure comfortable floating ability. Keep movements controlled. Lower feet to bottom if balance is lost. Stop if unable to maintain position.

Exercise Modifications

Make it Harder (Progressions)

Close eyes for increased proprioceptive challenge. Remove one arm from water. Progress to 30-second holds. Remove noodle for unsupported floating.

Make it Easier (Regressions)

Allow intermittent foot contact with bottom. Use two noodles. Reduce hold time to 10 seconds. Return to Level 2 version.
